Energy Balance through Dance.
Dance for Health combines dance with the discoveries of kinesiology, especially Touch for Health. DfH combines breathing exercises, self massage and stretching exercises with elements from afro-Brazilian dance and dance improvisation. In that way the energy flow through the meridian is activated and balanced, which promotes health as well as body and mental well-being.

Our body is the territory where our life takes place. For a dancer this is also the stage upon which his or her dance develops. The whole history of our life is stored in this body-space, and therefore we can look at this body as the map upon which we can continuingly find traces of our past.

Chinese medicine groups the meridian paths into 5 elements, and to each element belongs specific muscles, meridians, emotions, metaphors, etc.
In the Seminars each of these 5 elements will be analyzed and shown, and to which elements muscles, postures, gestures, blockages, movements, rhythms, emotions, etc. belong. The correct metaphor will be the main theme of the dance improvisation.
In the Seminars we learn, with special kinesthetic exercise and self massage, to activate the energy flow through our bodies, and to release blockages and to correct possible disturbances. The aim is to create an energetic self balance.
The seminars are an invitation to a journey inwards, into ourselves, an exploration of our own landscape through our personal “map”. They offer us an opportunity to discover, to perceive, and knowledgeably to live in our bodies, our own home.
The Seminars give information about:
- Energy flow in the body
- Techniques for the establishment of a well-ballanced energy flow
- Meridan paths to which the muscle groups belong
- Which muscles deliver information to which emotions and how to influence this.
- Awarness of our own bodies and thereby to limit the chances of harming ourselves
Dance for Health is an invitation to a journey inwards, into our selves. It offers us the possibility to discover, to realize and know our own life space, our own body, our own home, to come into contact again with our own healing powers.
