Dancing in the Andes
„Phunapi tusuy“ (Dancing in the Andes) is an invitation
to dance and to celebrate in a region
where mother earth reveals her beauty and her fragility,
and thereby mirrors our souls.
For a healthy life, one needs not only well-ballanced nutrition, inner peace and an harmonish environment, but also the right balance between movement and rest. In Chinese medicine Tai-Chi or Qi-Gong is one of the pillars of health.
In natural medicine the body, the mind and the spirit are an inseperable trilogy, and only when they vibrate harmonically with each other and nature is the human being blessed with health and well-being. This connection with the spirit and the body is becoming clearer even in the world of school or regular medicine.
Body, mind and spirit, what other activity integrates these three better and more harmonically than dance?
In our more and more competitive society dance is understood only at the professional level or as pure entertainment with no other worth. Thereby we forget what an important part dance played in the lives of our ancestors – in ceremonies and rituals which were to bring human life and the environment into balance with itself. Everything had its place: birth, death, initiations, marriage, prophesy, and HEALING.
Even today among many folk groups dance is used to win back good health and bring the body in balance. Alone the bodily preparation for dance helps make one´s energies flow easily again.
